Hacktoberfest with SAIT CUSAT: A Day to Remember

October is always special for open-source enthusiasts, and this year, the Student Association of Information Technology (SAIT) at CUSAT made it unforgettable. Celebrating Hacktoberfest, we organized an open-source workshop designed especially for those new to the Git-based workflow.

The energy was palpable from the start. As the first light broke, participants began checking in. By 9:30 AM, the room buzzed with excitement, awaiting insights from the session on "Exploring the prospects through Corona Safe Network."

This was just the tip of the iceberg. At 10:15 AM, a deep dive into the "Introduction to Free and Open Source Software" began, offering attendees a holistic view of the open-source universe and its myriad possibilities.

Post this enlightening session, it was time to get hands-on. At 11:00 AM, the first segment of the "Workshop on Git based workflow (GitLab)" commenced. This session aimed to equip attendees with the necessary skills to navigate Git and its nuances effectively.

A much-needed lunch break at noon provided not just sustenance but also a valuable networking opportunity. Conversations, ideas, and future collaborations took shape, emphasizing the community aspect of open-source projects.

Post-lunch, at 1:30 PM, the workshop on the Git-based workflow continued, building on the morning's foundation. This segment was essential, enabling participants to delve deeper into advanced GitLab functionalities and best practices.

The day concluded at 4:00 PM, but not before recapping the sessions, answering queries, and ensuring everyone left with knowledge, resources, and the confidence to contribute to open source.

It wasn't just a workshop; it was a journey. A journey from understanding the basics of open source to mastering the art of Git workflows. A journey that all attendees embarked upon together, under the guidance of SAIT CUSAT, making Hacktoberfest truly memorable."
